Greenway candles are the future of home decor

Zero Waste living encourages you to enjoy life to the fullest on a minimal, simplistic way. Save time, energy and money on the day to day tasks so you can enjoy more of what makes you happy. It encourages you to take care of yourself as much as taking care of your home; to feel centred and grounded. Zero Waste living gives you an excellent platform to clear up your space and stop consuming 21st-century marketing BS in order to buy things you don’t need.

I’ve always been a big fan of candles and usually light one up in the afternoon, right before I get on my mat for my daily yoga practice. I love how they fill up the air and create a unique atmosphere in the room. It’s a great way to relax after a long day, especially when you can choose different, subtle scents depending on your mood. Candles are comfort, relaxation, hygge. You can argue the necessity of them in a Zero Waste world, but for those who enjoy this small ritual at home, they are essential. So for people like us, it is important to keep this habit sustainable.

I immediately fell in love with the mission of Greenway Design: simplicity, eco-friendly decoration, sustainable home. Lighting up a candle on a sustainable way? Yes!

When we talk about Zero Waste products, a soy candle wouldn’t necessarily spring in mind, would it? But what if you could enjoy a candle, that is vegan, hand-made with 100% pure soy wax, heavenly scented essential oils and an organic cotton wick without any plastic or unnecessary waste, for 22-25 hours, then send back the empty glass jar to the maker so she can reuse it? For which you would receive a new candle as a pressie and your return fee is all covered, too. What is this if not the future of home decor?

Greenway candles are made in my beloved Hungary, where this re-candle system had been incredibly popular and successful before Mr Covid decided the World needed to stop.

Although I won’t be able to establish a candle recycling program as such, I was keen to offer the full assortment of candles on the webshop. Choose from 7 different scents from the smell of love (Love smell) through white tea (Tea Time) and sandalwood (Woodland) to smokey Bourbon Tobacco. Hope you’ll love them as much as I do.

And because I currently don’t have a system to recycle the glasses, I have translated Greenway’s original blog post about how you could reuse the amber glass jars at home. Not sure what to do with them? Check out their recommendations here.

Enjoy xx
