The 3-step Zero Waste face care routine that changed my life

I’ve always been a big fan of make-up, even when I didn’t quite know what my right shade of foundation was – I was doing it anyway. Some days I looked like Kylie Jenner, other days like Donald Trump. You learn as you go. Whilst I eventually mastered the use of make-up brushes and choosing the right colours, one thing became even more important than painting my face: cleaning it twice a day.

The thing with skin care is that you must try tons of different products until you find the one that is truly suitable for your skin. It’s fair to say that I’d taken my share when it came to buying and trying different facewashes, toners, cremes, moisturizers or eye serums, until I realised all I needed was a spot-free, even and clean skin (alongside a little bit of natural tan and some cute freckles) and I was keen to find the best solution to achieve such result.

My love for sustainability, especially Zero Waste took this to another level and now… *holding hand on heart* my face feels fresher, younger and smoother than ever before.

All I’m using is a face brush, a face soap and used coffee grounds.

Using old coffee grinds to exfoliate

This works a treat and I would not exchange it for any other facecare product. The coarse particles in coffee grounds work as an exfoliating agent to help remove dirt and dead cells from the skin. Simply mix used coffee grounds with a little bit of water or coconut oil and scrub them with your hands directly onto your face. Leave it on for a minute, then rinse gently.

How does it feel? Are you feeling your blood flowing? I told you.

I do this 2-3 times a week in the evenings.

A face soap that will change the way you think of soaps

Not everybody likes soaps which is completely understandable. I had chosen liquid or cream options myself until I tried Materia and I knew I’d stick with it*. It’s a 100% natural soap bar made of solid olive oil and other vegetable oils.  With its micro-exfoliating texture coming from organic poppy petals, it eliminates toxins and impurities and leaves the skin soft and velvety smooth. My face never felt as smooth as after I clean it with this soap.

I invested in an electric face brush years ago that I still use daily. It is very easy to use, but super satisfying and always delivers maximum result. After applying the soap on my face, I usually brush it gently with the electric brush, as opposed to using my hands, to ensure deep cleansing.

As an alternative you can also dry brush your face in order to restore firmness, get rid of dry skin flaking, and encourage blood flow to face or other areas of the body.

After rinsing off the soap, I apply 2 drops of 100% pure Rosehip Oil which is the absolute best thing I’ve ever used on my face to moisturise. Read more about the amazing benefits of Rosehip oil here.

This is my most satisfying skincare routine yet and I would love to know what you think. What is your favourite skincare routine like?
